I've just found the probate records for my great grand father who died in April 1953 yet probate was November 1966. Why would it have taken so long? Probate was to his eldest grandaughters husband and a family solicitor. He had 3 children, my grandfather who died in 1963, another son who lived in Australia and also might have died by 1966 and a daughter who I know little about.
