Seeing a Will online.

Seeing a Will online.

I recently saw a Will online which gave details of who got what etc. I have today discovered my gran left a few quid and the Index names a family member in some capacity. I'm not interested in the money but most certainly need to gather family names if they are shown. Gran's antecedents are
very difficult to sort out. Maybe this Will will help me. I suspect the person named is her brother-in-law.

Can anyone help please.

Thanks for replying. Can I find the actual Will online and read it please. If so, could you tell me
where to find it? I found the entry in Index to Wills and Probates.

Thanks,
Don.

Where did you find the Index to Wills and Probates? Was it on Ancestry? You need to provide more information, such as when and where in the world your ancestor died. Providing a full name and date of death would be very helpful.

I see a few messages from you posted on these message boards about family in Lancashire. If this is the same family for which you're seeking wills, these links should get you started:

Thanks for your helpful advice. It all looks very complicated. I now have determined quite a bit by other means and now have begun to sort out Gran's line. Although I have many years experience of using BMD's, I was working on Adoptions and separated siblings and the end aim was always to discover living relatives. I am very new to seeking out ancestry.

There are a lot of very knowledgeable people who use these boards and who are eager to help. Just be sure when posting a query that you provide as much information as possible to enable someone to help you.

If you haven't done so already, thoroughly explore GENUKI (http://www.genuki.org.uk). There's an amazing amount of information there, especially in the Lancashire section. RootsWeb's LancsGen list is also recommended for anyone researching in that county. See http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/ENG/LANCSGEN.h... for information and subscription links.

Best of luck with your research.
