newbie with a problem

Well, I probably have several problems, but let's ignore the others for now. ;)

My current problem is this: years ago, before she got sick, my grandmother was tracing my father's family. Her bag of papers and notes was given to me some time ago, and I am in the process of trying to sort through and make some sense out of it. BUT (yeah, it's a big one) I can't find anything that tells me _where_ she got all of this info. She has, in a few places, as far back as Jamestown or before, but I have no way of knowing why she wrote it, or how accurate it might be. Is there anyway of finding out, without actually wasting a lot of time re-doing everything, whether this info is accurate?

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
