I'm not really sure if I'm posting in the right place or not, but these message boards are kind of confusing.
My family history is pretty confusing and I'm really wary about paying for services to help me find my ancestry if it's going to run into an early dead-end.
My mother and her brother and the only biological relatives that I have a personal relationship with. I have recently got in contact with one of my mother's biological sisters on her mother's side, and I'm waiting to get some info from her. I have very limited knowledge on my mother's father.
I've never met my biological father, but I do know his name and the year around he was probably born and the city his family at least lived at for awhile. I have some limited knowledge of his history (what college he went to, an old phone number where he used to live, etc), but that's about it.
I was just wondering if I had enough information to go off of here. I've tried different ancestry sites and most of them either give no information at all or give information that doesn't seem to pertain to me. I'm not really sure how this whole process works, but since I have basically no knowledge of my ancestry, I'm very interested in figuring out my roots, but it's a very complicated process. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. I would be willing to pay for services as long as I know I can get results and it's not outrageously expensive. Thanks!
