You are a gem. I had looked at Rootsweb before and evidently missed these entries. I need to check it further, of course, but I do believe the second one is the one I'm looking for. We know he married a lady named Bettie Slaughter who had a son named Rudie. That matches the second entry perfectly. The dates are close enough to make it an almost sure match.
