My GGG Grandmother was Elizabeth Beckett born 4/16/1801 in DE, died 1875 in Adams Co., OH, buried in Flat Run Cemetery. She was married to William George Glaybaugh born in 1796 in VA and died 1859.

Elizabeth was the daughter of Bede Beckett who died May 1830 in Twin Twp., Ross Co., OH. Her mother was Nancy? born 1782 in MD; died 1/23/1853, Scott Twp., Adams Co., OH, buried in Flat Run Cemetery.

Elizabeth's and William 's daughter was Rebecca Claybaugh, born 1817 in Ross Co., OH who married my GG Grandfather, Henry Ashenfelter 2/11/1834 in Highland Co. OH

James Married her as a Beckett. I do not know if they were cousins but her given name as far as I know was Elizabeth Beckett that married James. I wanted to find a cousin in MD that had answered my posting at one time that was related to Elizabeth's line of Becketts. I would be nice to find others as well. I do not think at this time I would know if there is a connection. I haven't much to work with in this time frame. Sorry it took so long to reply as I was not feeling well. Julia

i have been researching Becketts also. especially Bede and Nancy Becketts daughter Mary Jane who married James D.Exline. i haven't been able to locate burial place of Bede, would you know where it is? i have some info on Rebecca being committed to Athens State Hospital for the Insane. can you connect with any of this info> bpaul43147@yahoo.com

My records show that Bede Beckett died May 1830, Twin Twp., Ross Co., OH. I do not know where he is buried. I assume he is buried in Ross Co., His wife, Nancy died 2-23-1853 in Scott Twp, Adams Co, OH, and buried in Flat Run Cemetery. Her daughter, Elizabeth (Beckett) Claybaugh died 1875, Adams Co, OH and buried in Flat Run Cemetery also.

Yes, Rebecca (Claybaugh) Ashenfelter was committed to the Highland Co. Infirmary and was transferred to a Dayton, OH Lunatic Asylum and then in May 1874 to the Lunatic Asylum at Athens, OH. It is believed that she died there before 1880 because she doesnt appear in the 1880 census and the hospital couldn't find her records at the time my cousin did the research.
