Hi Cindy,
I am hoping you can help me. I have been searching and searching...... for my gg aunt. who immigrated to the US with Father Thomas Hore from Wexford Ireland. They docked at New Orleans late 1850, I have found her brother in Kentucky, John Cahill at Pendleton but have been unable to find her. I feel she must have married somewhere along the route the large group took up the Mississippi, various ones of the group settled at numerous places along the way. Mainly St. Louis, Little Rock, Arkansas.
I hope you can find her for me on one of your CDs.
Her name is Bridget Cahill she was born between 1812 and 1822 in Ireland. She is listed at being aged 38 in 1850 when she boarded the ship and when she gets off she is listed at 28. Would be good if we could catch that ship!! Anyway thanks again. Jenni in Australia

Data Introduction

Have you been able to follow, John Cahill or Thomas Hore in the census, sometimes a sister, neice, etc, become neighbors,

And when u say with Father Thomas Hore, is Father in the religious sense, or he was her father?

I did find a Bridget Cahill on 1850 Census Hamilton Co, Ohio
age 40 born Ireland, lived with William Mullene, his wife Mary.

Did not find any Bridget Cahill, or alternate spelling on any marriage cd.

Thankyou so much for that info Cindy, I really appreciate it.
Father Hore was a catholic Priest from the Annacurra-Killaveney Parish of Wicklow Ireland. He arranged for about 1000 irish people to immigrate to America during the Famine. Most of the group ended up splitting off all along the Mississippi River.
So Bridget could have ended up anywhere. I have been unable to find her, she obviously married along the way. What I did find yesterday was a child born in the Orleans Parish of Louisiana in 1856 to Bridget Cahill and John Whafer, the child's name was Joseph. I have a feeling this may be her as there was a passenger on the Chasca with her that docked at New Orleans named Michael Wafer. Which Whafer and Wafer is probably the same surname. Do you know of where I can get hold of marriage records for this area?
Thanks again
Jenni

Hi Cindy –

Could you possibly do a marriage look up for me?

My Grandfather Alex Shewchuck married Dora Botavinko in Chicago around
1912. They were married in Cook County.

An alternative for Shewchuck could be Szewczuk; this was the spelling on his port of entry card. As for an alternative for Botavinko it could be anything close. The only document that spells her maiden name is on a few birth certificates.

Thanks for reading my request.

Mark

On my cd which goes to 1970 it does not have Cook County on it and searching showed no names matching those you are searching using different spellings.
Have you tried the Cook County, Illinois Clerk's office or there website?
Sorry couldn't help.
Cindy

Cindy –

Hey thanks for the effort, I appreciate you taking the time to do the search for me. I will check out the Cook County site and see what direction I can come up with.

Thanks again,
Mark

I hope you can help me. I am looking for the marriage of Enos Elonzo McEldowney to Lettie ?. Her surname - which may be either a maiden name or a name from a first marriage - may be Lyman; there was a 12 year old adopted son Paul Lyman living with them in 1920. Possible locations are Iroquois Co., IL or Grant Co., IN. Possible date is 1894-1920, probable 1907-1920. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. This one has been driving me crazy for some time now.

Pope Co, Ill is not listed on cd, and searching other counties none is listed.
