Thank You Judy,
This is a big puzzle for me.
Possible skeletons are buried here. My grandfather Louis George (Edward James)
McCrary was married and living in
Appleton WI with his first wife Pearl
Gurnee in 1900. But would love to see the Census record for that. He attended
Appleton College and was a electrician. He had several children with Pearl.
It is thought when he left his first, wife he changed his name to "Edward James" and "James G." McCrary, for unknown reasons
He and his second wife Ethel
FAIRMAN moved to Eligin,
Kane County and
Barrington ILL. and had Douglas
McCrary then went westward and opened a restaurant in
California. Had Lorna in
Willow, Vivian in
Needles, Delbert in
Nevada City and Eugene in Sacramento
California.
When my Dad was young (after 1920) he left and the family never heard from him again.
Despite popular belief he had died he was a general contractor and moved to
Alameda County,
California. Latter he went into retirement and became a beekeeper.
1910
I found James G. McCrary and wife Ethel in the 1910
Elgin Ward 3,
Kane County, Ill census
James G. McCrary 33 WI, Father
Unk, Mother
UnkEthel
McCrary 24 WI, Father Canada, Mother WI
= == = =
1930 Fondulac, WI Census
Ethel
McCrary Head, Widow 44 Father WI, Mother Canada
Lorna Daughter 17 CA
William Son 16 CA
Vivian Daughter 15 CA
Delbert Son 13 CA
Eugene Son 10 CA
Ethel's father and mother's birth place were reversed between the 1910 and 1930 census. I didn't find James or Ethel in 1920 census. James must have died before the 1930 census since Ethel is shown as widow. I didn't find anything on Lewis that I could be sure of.
So I am wondering where he was in 1930 and with who?
Thank You
Best regards
Kurt
