Re: Edward Baker in 1810 Census

This just really puzzles me since Edward was born in 1782 and most records say Mary (his wife) was born between 1770 and 1780. I wonder if Edward or Mary's parents were living with them. If the census is correct in 1820 then Mary was either older or younger than what people have put in records. She died in 1827 and Edward moved to Randolph County, Missouri where most of his children were already living or moved after their mother's death. We have never found any records about Mary's birth, parents, or death other than a reported letter from her son in Missouri to Edward in Wayne County, Kentucky after her death. Edward (my 3 times great-grandfather) is buried not far from where I live. If anyone has any more information about Edward and Mary it would really help put this riddle to rest.

I was wondering if you might provide me with any sources that exist indicating:

1) Dolly Brown died about 1839. The reason I ask is there is a Dolly Slavy listed on the 1850 census with James, so she had to have died AFTER 1850.

2} that James and Dolly had a son named Lewis, as I have found nothing to indicate that. I do show a LOIS however who was born about 1839 and died abt 1887 in Wayne Co., TN.

3) That James had a second wife Jane, as I show he had a daughter named Jane.

I have read on a few message boards that Jane had three children with someone by the last name of Watters/Waters, but she never married him apparently, as her children, Elizabeth, John Wesley "Jack", and Sarah Ann Slaven do not have the Watters/Waters last name.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Lewis wright is either uncle or father to my gggrandfather ballinger wright! Would you know of this family line?? It is unconfirmed who ballinger wrights father is! but iam betting on lewis wright! He is listed in census records of living right next door to ballinger so my guess is he could be his father! looking forward to hearing from you! Barb!

Kim
You have death information on Dorotha Dishman (married William (Bill)Davis)-this is my grandparents. My grandfather Bill's youngest brother is still living. He's around 90. He confirmed my information. I grew up knowing that Campbell Dishman and Ida Piercy were my great grandparents. My dad visited two of Campbell and Ida's daughters (Hettie and Ethel) until they died. They lived in Michigan. My great grandmother Ida evidently went north and lived her life with them in Michigan. I, myself, spent a lot of time talking with Mr. Watt Dishman, my Grandmother Dorothy's uncle (Cambell's brother). Since my grandmother died when my Dad was only 3yr. old, I didn't know much about her. Mr. Watt would talk to me about her. Thnaks for the info that you have given me.

Wow how interesting. I am sure there would have been notice of his death in the local paper there. Have u tried to get that and his obit? I am interested as to
how u tracked down his parents?? Did u want that death certificate? Its funny if he died when u think he did then he should have a death certificate and i cant find one. Nor can i find one on his wife. Do u think that was the right Okley that i found??
In my posted message, "Campbell Dishman b. abt 1884 married Ida Piercy b. abt 1879......" I made a mistake. I found the information not in the 1930 census but the 1910 census. I cannot find anything after 1910. I do have some more information. I found from our oldest family member still living that Campbell was murdered by Marcus Carter around 1920 or 1921. This murder took place at the store located in Slickford, Wayne Co., KY. I found information recorded in a newspaper about some problems with the law inforcement in Wayne Co., KY on Oct. 13, 1921. It seems that a prisoner had escaped. Someone was upset about it and referred to 4 other prisoner that had escaped in the recent past in this county. The example named was Marcus Carter who had killed Campbell Dishman. I cannot find where Campbell was buried. I suspect that he is buried in an unmarked grave in the Dishman Ceme. at Slickford, Wayne Co., KY.

Email me at kim_donley@yahoo.com and i can send u the death certificate listed below.......KIM
I found your tree at ancestry....How did you find Campbell's parents? The reason i am asking is that i looked up census on Elijah and Freely and dont see a Campbell ever living with them...Did he go by another name? You also mentioned a 1930 census that u found Campbell on and i cant find that one either...See the 1900 census for Elijah down at the bottom of this message...Campbell would have been in between Millard and Daisy...But Freely states that she has given birth 12 times and 12 are living so there are 5 children unaccounted for. So i looked back at other census and here are the children that i see: Where was Campbell in 1900??
There were 12children listed on a Oneworld tree they were:
Cora M. Dishman b: 27 SEP 1873
Sarah B. Dishman b: ABT 1874
Lora Belle Dishman b: 27 FEB 1874
Porter Dishman b: ABT 1878
Dora M. Dishman b: 18 JAN 1881
Millard Dishman b: 7 MAR 1884
Daisy Dishman b: 26 SEP 1886
Sophronia Dishman b: FEB 1889
Float Dishman b: MAR 1891
Joseph Dishman b: 26 SEP 1893
Watt Dishman b: 28 FEB 1897
Mollie L. Dishman b: DEC 1898

And from Census alone i found 11
From 1880 census
Lora B. Dishman abt 1874
Cara M. Dishman abt 1876
Porter Dishman abt 1874
Dora M. Dishman abt 1879/1880

From 1900
Millard Dishmon 16 abt 1884 (is Millard and Campbell the same person??)
Daisy Dishmon 13 abt 1887
Saproina Dishmon 11 abt 1889
Flsat Dishmon 9 abt 1891
Joseph Dishmon 6 abt 1894
Wat Dishmon 3 abt 1897
Mollie L Dishmon 1 abt 1899

1910 United States Federal Census
about Cambell Dishman
Name: Cambell Dishman
Age in 1910: 26
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1884
Birthplace: Kentucky
Relation to Head of House: Head
Father's Birth Place: Kentucky
Mother's Birth Place: Kentucky
Spouse's Name: Ida
Home in 1910: Slickford, Wayne, Kentucky
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Cambell Dishman 26
Ida Dishman 31
Dorothy Dishman 9
Othy Dishman 8
Lizzie Dishman 6
Okley Dishman 5/12

Kentucky Death Records, 1852-1953
about Dortha Davis
Name: Dortha Davis
[Dortha Dishman]
Death Date: 25 Feb 1924
Death Location: Wayne
Residence Location: Wayne
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: White
Birth Date: 30 Dec 1901
Birth Location: Slickford, Kentucky
Father's Name: Campbell Dishman
Father's Birth Location: Slickford Kentucky
Mother's Name: Ida Piercy
Mother's Birth Location: Slickford Kentucky

Davis Dorothy 8-20-1901 2-24-1924 1st wife of John William Davis

Possible for Okley??
My name is Bob Pearcy and I have some limited info about Freeland for you. I have searched my ancestry back to John Pearcy (Piercy, Piercey, Peercy, Peircy, etc) in Virginia around 1702. Freeland was born around 1855 to Mark and Sarah (Hicks) Pearcy (or whatever spelling you choose to use since the census' from the 1800's spells it different almost every decade that it's taken). Mark's father was James William Pearcy...it's listed as just William (or Wm) on most of the census'. Mark is my great-great grandfather. My great grandfather is Lewis Littleton Pearcy, the youngest child of Mark & Sarah, who was born in 1868 or 1869.
Other brothers and sisters of Freeland were Frances (called Franky), Ellen, James J, Lucinda, William, Ambrores (??) and finally Lewis.
Lewis moved his family eventually to St. Louis and then Arkansas and that's where I grew up. I was so interested in researching my "roots" that I left Arkansas March 2007 and moved to Monticello, KY in Wayne County in order to research better my ancestry. I've only been here a week, but they have a fantastic geneology society in Monticello so they will help me from here.
Oh by the way, I was born in 1962.
