Barb,
My email is
deo@aracnet.comI would find it easier to communication directly rather than through the boards. Would that be acceptable to you?
My Francois has been an enigma to our research group. Yes there is a Lacharite Family group. His origins are legend to us. We believe he was from Canada and the son of french settlers. We believe he was a trapper that came down to work the high plains of the USA. His first native wife was Red Blanket a Yanton Sioux. They had two daughters Mary and . He then married a Ponca Indian named Na Je Ga Tin. In 1846 a daughter was born to them in Soldier Creek area of the Dakota badlands. Almost all his life he traveled and lived on the Missouri River. He was a rascal, lived worked and partied hard. I have lots of stories and docs about him but the details are surmised. We have no direct link to the Laspron/Lampron/Lacharites of Canada. He may have changed his name when he came here. My husband is a descendant from Mele Lacharite his daughter by the Ponca woman. I am happy to share any info that I have. It would be great if we could link him up to your Metis family. Diana
