Its funny, I stumbled over this & realize its a bit old but I need to add in my 2 pennies.
I'm a photographer, I do it for pay & as a side, I'm not a lawyer but I do know a bit about how my pictures can be used but I never minded putting them on F.A.G.
The photos I post there are for the people who are related to the person buried at the gravestone, usually not my family as I am far from my ancestors bones & many of them due to religious beliefs do not have gravestones.
So if they want to use my pictures posted on the site for their lines, so be it, I'm happy they liked them enough to use them.

I would appreciate those that do it for my family to extend the same courtesy, many have already for which I am eternally grateful.

But if someone who didn't take the pictures think they are going to take me to task for using someone else pictures then they are going to get an earful from me about it. They are not privy to any conversations I may have had or may not have had with the picture taker so they need to Shut the Heck up & go to mindyaownbizness town.

As for F.A.G being used as a genealogy resource, I will & that's my choice. (General) you don't like it go to the town mentioned above & also Blow Off village. Last I checked I served in the military in the USA so you could have your opinions & I can have mine. This garbage of others needing to mind others business is one reason I've turned my trees into private whereas they were public for years before that.

I agree F.A.G. is no longer a nice place, it seems to have fallen into the same attitude of the webs animosity & anonymous users syndrome where they can be right snits online but would never do that face to face with someone.
