Can anyone advise me of the following-
If I paid for a search on the 1939 register with just a name and birth date of a deceased person am I likely to be successful in finding out where this person was living in 1939?
Secondly, is it possible for a living person to request this information on themselves?
It is the address I am interested in finding out.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Lorraine

It's probably best to ask the people to whom you'd be sending your money.......

There are no guarantees they could supply the information with just name and date of birth. It would very much depend on how unusual the name was.
A living person should be able to get their information from the 1939 register, but under an FOI request, not via the standard application form. There will still be an admin charge but it may be less.
However, if you can wait a little longer, FMP are digitising the register and it will be available for their subscribers "later this year" (i.e. probably next year!). All information about individuals born less than 100 years ago will, however, be redacted.
Hope this helps
Caroline

Thank you, I am aware of the digitising of the register but unfortunately the information I require is for persons born less than 100 years ago.
Your advice regarding a living person is very helpful though, this may well be the easiest route to take.
Many thanks
Lorraine

Possibly. But don't forget that all a living person is entitled to is information about themselves, and there will be a certain amount of rigmarole involved with them proving their identity. Good luck!
