I'm still kinda new at this, but I'm thinking you may have the wrong Alfred. In 1911, he would be 22 with 9 kids? That just doesn't seem very possible, unless there were alot of multiples (twins/triplets/etc). How old does the census show the children to be? They should all be infants or toddlers. Also, in 1901, he would be 12 with a child aged 10? That's just not possible at all.
I don't mean to be rude or inconsiderate. I've had similar things come up in my family research, and I have had to look at the possibility of a 54 year old woman having a baby. Look at dates as well as names in your research.
