Trying to find my maternal grandfather, who was out of the picture mostly. Grandma remarried. I have possibles on his service number and SSN, but no way to be sure if they match. He was in the Navy, but I seriously doubt they were married overseas, and even so, those records would be US property anyway. Plenty of info on him up until he joined the Navy. (poor early-widowed mother)

I even have pictures and letters from him to my mother from when I was born. He dropped off the face of the Earth then, and may have died a few years later. We'd like to know.

Using my Grandmother's SSN and info, I can't find any record of a marriage to him. Why is that? What else can I try?
