These decisions are really up to you.

It depends on whether you want to trace your children's ancestry or just your own. If you trace your children's then obviously you would include their father, his parents, etc. etc. etc.

If you decide it is stricly YOUR pedigree, then you would start with yourself. (but you could still include your ex's name, birthdate, etc. to be thorough with your information.)
