With the help of people on this site I have discovered my grandmother at last! Strange thing is that although we new her as "Margaret" Jane the copy of the birth certificate show her as Martha. This is a big enough discrepancy to cause doubt! My search started with FreeBMD and returned an entry for Margaret Jane Wingate born 1879 in Hampshire. This clearly shows the correct name of Margaret.
So how can Freebmd show Margaret and the only record that can be found is for Martha? Also the birth date is is differen than we were aware of. Help and guidance need please.
