Surnames: Hogg, Freeman, Robinson, Watson
I have in my posession 2 scrapbooks dated 1833 and 1835 which belonged to Ursula Hogg Freeman who lived in Newcastle, Northumberland, England. (These were recently returned to the family by a generous lady who rescued them from an antique shop.)

Ursula was the daughter of Thomas Hogg and Ann Robinson. Thomas was a silk mercer. She married George Freeman the son of Patrick Freeman and Ann Watson. George was a bank Clerk at the Sir Ridley Bank.

The 1833 scrapbook is almost like an autograph book with various family and friends, writing short stories and poems in it.

The 1835 scrapbook includes some of the same but it also has many clippings and entries which would be of interest to descendants and friends of the family. There are numerous entries of individuals who lived in the Summerhill Terrace area of Newcastle. There are mentions of items of historical interest: she talks about the funeral of Prince Albert, there are several pages devoted to the death and replacement of the minister of the Blackett Street Church, Rev Matthew MacNaughton to name a few.

George and Ursula had no children. Ursula did have 3 siblings that I know of, George had 7. Many of their siblings and nieces and nephews did not live long, so I am unsure how much family still exists. The surnames listed include the spouses of their siblings.

I have scanned these scapbooks to make them available to all who might be interested. Hopefully there are other family members out there who can enjoy them as well. Click on the link below to view these treasures.
