A friend of mine is a garage sale goddess and knew I had long time San Jose ties. She brought me this magnificent find and figured I'd know how to find a good home for it. I am talking about a wonderful, fully identified photo of the Class of 1904 from HORACE MANN SCHOOL in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The photo is in magnificent condition with very good contrast and sharpness. It is in its' original oak frame with a dark, almost black stain. Of course it has its' original wood backing with the old square headed nails (a few modern nails have been added for extra support). The original mat is a dark grey with gold printing that gives the identification of all the class members.

These children are clearly dressed in their very best Victorian and Turn of the Century outfits. All of the boys in the front row are wearing short trousers or knickers. Many of the dapper young men have flowers in their lapels. I don't even know how to go about describing the young ladies dresses except to say that some are wearing the most beautiful lace collars and fine jewelry.

The photo and frame measures about 18 x 16 inches. Too big for my scanner to scan the entire image at once. But I have posted several scans to this page: http://www.geocities.com/mhtruck/HoraceMann.html. My friend would really like to see this photo go to a descendent of one of the students. She paid $25.00 for this photo and would like to be reimbursed. I f you can prove one of these people are your ancestor she is willing to work with you on terms of re-payment. I will pay for shipping and insurance. The only condition we have is that if we are contacted by other descendants or interested parties at a later date that we can pass on your contact information.

In the order printed on the mat:
John W. LILLIS, Principal; Julia L. FRANK, Assistant
Jeanie ALLEN, Charles ALLANBROOK, Harry ALLEN, Winnie ALLEN, Marion BEAN, Edna BOUTILIER, William BRICKLEY, Gordon BROWN, William CODY, Hildred CROSBY, Ernest DAVIS, Frank DRISCOLL, Mamie DURANT, Willard EMERY, Dorothy ENTWISTLE, Randolph FITZMAURICE, Sarah FLINT, Lena FORD, Marion FOSS, Lena FULLER, Helen FREDERICKSON, Edith GAYTON, Bessie GOLDMAN, Warren GOLDSMITH, Elmer GRANT, Emma HAHN, Lillian HART, Walter HARVEY, Ina HUNT, Lizzie JOHNSON, Raymond LANE, Eli LIBBMAN, Mabelle MAC SPARRON, Frank MANLEY, Celia MARSHALL, Ethel MARSHALL, Henry MITCHELL, Anna MORRISON, Frances PEEL, Maud RHINES, Christabel SAWIN, Ester SCHULTZ, Thatcher SHAW, William SIMPSON, Francis SMALL, Clifford SOLLOWS, Corinne THIES, and Harry WHITE.

I am posting this notice to several lists in hopes of finding a good home for the photo. I apologize for any multiple posting you may receive.

Thank you for your time and interest.
