Trust Fund Closed

I would like help in finding documentation which shows how a trust fund was dissolved,

Robert Stewart died in 1880, the article was printed in the papers in 1941 (see attachment). George Stewart was a great Uncle. A family member can remember been told of an inheritance from the Stewarts in Scotland but no more information.

All help advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The cutting does not actually say it was a Trust Fund but perhaps you have some other evidence? As it stands, something would have been held in Trust for a person, or persons until he/she/they died. If they died without issue, and the original Will had not given instructions as to what should happen after that the solicitors would have to trace down next of kin of the original will-maker. The solicitors' papers would not be public documents and are probably long since gone but if you get a copy of the Will you should be able to see what the original requests were and there would have to be public record of whoever the final Letters of Administration were given to. I think I would start by getting a copy of the original Will.

In my opinion nobody in their right mind who is not legally qualified would pass any sort of opinion on a document like this - and I would doubt if a legally qualified person would be prepared to comment on a public forum. If you have read it right through and it does not say who the Trust is actually set up for and what is to happen when the Trust runs out, then the only sensible route is to take it to a lawyer and ask for an opinion. There may be some sort of office in Scotland which would give general advice, might be worth a bit of googling, but I honestly do not think this is the right place to look for the advice you need. Good luck with it anyway.
