No, I don't think the first letter is an S.
Underneath Mrs. Weston is Rev. H. A. Todd, whose occup. is listed as Minister. The M in Minister looks exactly the same as the first letter in Mrs. Weston's status.

Also, near the bottom of the clip you attached, Anna Carkeuer? has the status Spinster. That S looks entirely different from the first letter of Mrs. Weston's status.
