I am at a total loss figuring out this location. It is from the 1850 Census for Goshen Township, Champaign County, Ohio. It is the 3rd location on the Closeup image (others are Ireland, England, the unknown location, Ireland, NB and Ohio). On the full page, it is line #17 Catherine Kennedy. Figuring out this location may be the key to finding this family on a ship list.

It looks like it says "Mass" - probably a reference to Massachusetts.

I never would have guessed that. The 3rd letter looks like an "f" to me, but Massachusetts makes sense considering that the surname is Kennedy. I will check Boston ship lists.
