Then there's definitely something to hide...which makes it all the more intriguing. Unless it's just some sort of verbal style argument between two parties or "I don't like so-n-so" it still leaves open all those public records for you to search and find out why...even the most current ones. Arrest records, criminal files, civil complaints, bankruptcies, divorce decrees, wills -- all of these are public record and you have a right to a copy. If you are that determined I would just go to the county courthouse where the grandparent lived and dig through everything they have....and laugh all the way home.
I've done it myself and learned why they weren't talking. Juicy, juicy stuff.
