Thank you for your reply and I appreciate you taking the time to help. I did not know about the WW2 stuff although had heard a rumour so it is very helpful to hear that he definitely served. I imagine that he was killed after the 5 months but would love to know for sure. His son (my father) also served in WW2 for the UK as a navigator but was only 19 at the time war broke out, he would have found it very interesting to hear that his father was serving at the same time.
This does give me some information to go on so I hope to find out what happened to him at some point. Thank you again for your assistance.
