I have tried this before with no response, and am attempting again. In my maternal line, there is a male cousin whose birth name was Herman Miller, but who was always known as "Kiddo". He was born in either PA or OH, probably in the early 1900's, and was actually the youngest of 13 children, born to Elias and Etel (Ethel) Miller. Like all his family, he also lived in the Detroit, MI area during his formative years. He was probably named for his grandfather, Herman, (later Harry) Lavinger. I have been unable to find any more info about this person other than that he was indeed born. I do not know if he ever married, had any children, etc. There was some talk in the family that he had had some trouble with the law during his youth. Does anyone on Ancestry know anything about this person?

I'd try finding the obituaries of all 13 children -- one or more is likely to mention him. If they don't, then he probably died before they did.
Do you have the names and death dates (or years) of all the children? If so, can you post them? I have access to several newspapers that I could try...
[Note: Did you post your query at the Miller board? This is a somewhat obscure place to post it, and may explain why you didn't get responses...]

Looks as if he lived at least until 1920. He's in the 1920 US Census, but his name has been mistranscribed as Hernasa. The family is living in New Hampshire, Hillsborough, Manchester Ward 7, District 0108. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MH8K-NGNI'll keep looking...

Was Elias Miller's wife's maiden name Lavinger? (I think it was, according to several records at FamilySearch.org.)

Do you have access to the public trees at this site? If so, there's a tree that has Herman dying in 1962 [Herman Jacob Miller.] You could contact the tree owner to see what info he/she has.
His parents were Elias Miller and Ethel Lavinger in the tree.

Ruth Miller married Herbert Satalof in 1925, but they were divorced in 1936. (I'm trying to find info on Herman's siblings.)

There are also several trees here for the Elias Miller and the ETHELKE LOVINGER, with names matching the children's, with various birth and death dates/locations. Take a look. You can contact the tree owners directly...

Hello, Thanks so much for doing all this research for me! I see that there are other trees that have these people, and I wonder how I can contact them. I can't seem to be able to access public trees, probably because I have never become a paying member. The reason is personal, but I may have to rethink this. I would love to be able to contact someone from a family who has been researching these people. I do have all the names and birth dates (but not death dates) of my Miller cousins. The original 13 children, I am sure, are all deceased now. I find the various spellings of my great aunt's maiden name interesting. (Ethel was my maternal grandfather's sister. The original family name in Europe was Lowinger.) I would like to know if I have living relatives that I have never met or heard of. Do I need to take out a paid subscription to Ancestry? If it is necessary, I may do it, although I have some personal misgivings about having certain info on line. Does the entry showing H.J. Miller state where he was living at the time? From what I can tell, this family was widely dispersed during the latter part of the 20th century.

Re; your question about the Miller board. Yes, I have tried this, but the board is so huge,Miller being one of the world's most common names, that it's too hard to find anything on that site. Incididentally, I have recently found all the birth dates, and Herman was not the youngest as I had assumed. He was actually only the youngest son. Two daughters, Evelyn and Edith were younger. I knew both of them slightly in my youth, but as a kid myself, I wasn't interested. Funny, how growing up and growing older changes one's interests. Both these women died several years ago--they were both single and left no children to my knowledge.
