Hi,
This may be an easy question to answer for someone, hopefully.
In the electoral registers im looking at, london districts mainly, there are abbreviations 'O' 'Rw' 'Dw' in columns besides names, does anyone know what they mean??
I've searched, googled etc but cant find explaination.
Im a beginner at this so forgive me if its a totally silly question.
Thank you in advance.
P.s im pretty sure this will not be the last question i post ;0)

I have to admit I had no idea either, but if you go to the first image in the register book you're looking at and go forwards a few pages, you'll find a key which explains the various abbreviations, which I guess will be the same as the ones I found. Basically these show how the person is qualified to vote, so for men:
R = Residence qualification
B = Business premises qualification
O = Occupation qualification
D = Qualification through spouse's occupation
Rw, Bw, Ow and Dw have the same meanings but apply to women.
NM = Naval or military voter
I hope that helps!

Brilliant, thank you.
Didn't even occur to me to try looking at front pages, where keys to things are normally found, feel a tad duh! ;0)
Much appreciate your help.
Thom.
