I have fairly complete family records but can't find a connection to a Romanoff family. My grandmother's cousin (maiden name is Bolotin) says that we're related to some Romanoffs, but she doesn't know how. She remembers visiting Nick Romanoff's family often. Could be connected to any one of the following:

Bolotin
Desatoff
Delmatoff
Agalzoff
Kunikoff

Would appreciate any information that might be out there.

Thanks!

Bill

In my files, I have a "ROMANOFF WILLIAM D" 1898/12/27 Mother: "KESSELOF" MALE b: "US" d: "LOS ANGELES 1966/06/26" Age: "67" married to a "ROMANOFF MARY SHUTOFF" 1899/05/25 Mother: "KLUBNIKIN" Father: "SHUTOFF" FEMALE b: "RE" d: "LOS ANGELES 1957/08/18" Age: "58".
Their daughter, Love "Luba" Wm. D. ROMANOFF married a William Esai Ivan DOLMATOFF.

I also have a "ROMANOFF ALEX T" (Theodore) 1923/07/14 Mother: "URAINE" MALE b: "CA" d: "LOS ANGELES 1961/09/20" Age: "38" married to a “Mary-Ann, John Alex AGALZOV” (1926 - )

Don’t know how they would tie in to Nick, or if it will help at all..

Plus, I have All Kinds of Bits & Pieces of Romanoffs & Romanovs. Maybe you can tie some of them together for me.??

Thanks, George! This is a good start. "Uraine" or "Urin" was my great grandmother's maiden name (married to William Michael Kisseloff) so maybe this is the connection.

Hmmm...just dug through some old correspondence and found a letter from a cousin and she writes that her friend, Lou Romanoff, is married to Aunt Delmatoff's son. Maybe Aunt Delmatoff's son is this William Esai Ivan Dolmatoff (Delmatoff?) that you found in your files.

Do you want to send me your bits and pieces on the Romanoffs/Romanovs, and I'll see if I can piece some of this together?

Kind regards,

Bill

My grandmother is Emma Romanoff and Nick and Mary Jane's aunt. She is still alive and will be 95 on Sept. 11. She is doing well and living in Washington with her daughter, Donna. She still crochets, watches tv, cooks, and takes a walk from the backyard to the living room to her bedroom. On occassion, she asks Donna to take her to the store where she rides her motorized scooter like she was riding a Harley. LOL She is still beautiful for her age.

Grandma was also married to a Novikoff, then to my grandfather, Alex Tolmasoff after she divorced the Novikoff. With Alex, she had my mother, Doris, and another daughter Carol. Donna and Kenny came later from another marriage. She also had a son and daughter with the Novikoff. Nancy was the daughter who died as an infant and David who is living in Rosemead.

Oh, forgot one more thing - I was told that Afanasi, Gramma's father, was not a Molokan until he met Anesya. He then became one because he loved her.

It was also told to me that he was a gypsy. I don't know how true that is but maybe someone out there knows?

Also, does anyone know where Afanasi and Anesya were buried?

Alfonso was born Alfonso Lifchikin. He took the Romanoff name when he immigrated because he wanted to sound royal. I don't know where Alfonso is buried. He died on 01Feb1948. Anesya died on 10Feb1960. I think she was living at your grandmother's house in San Gabriel when she died. I remember attending the funeral and I'm pretty sure she was buried at the Old Molokan cemetery.

Wow, thanks Wayne. I was told something slightly different. Gramma said his last name was Lefchenko but yours is close as well. Perhaps that's why I can't find out too much about his geneaology. I'm still interested in researching him. Thanks again. Katherine
