I am trying to find a decendant of a
SWISS MENNONITE preacher and was hoping I could get some leads here. I found a family bible dated 1828 at a flea market and would love to see this in the hands of a true decendant of this line. I have called several Mennonite historical associations, PA historical associations and no one can help so far or no wants the bible either as they say it not old enough for them to want. :{
The line I am trying to find a decendant for would be as follows:
Christian was born 20 May 1806. He married
Eve Harshberger about 1828.
They were living in
Garret County, Md. at least until 1830 when they show up in
that County's census. They moved across the border into
Elk Lick Twp.,
Somerset Countynty Pa., where we know his son Daniel was born and then into
Donegal Twp.,
Westmoreland County, Pa.
Christian and
Eve had six children,
Abraham, Fanny,
Jonas, Frances ("
Tillie"),
Daniel, and Andrew. Only
Abraham and Daniel remained in the area. Jonas, Fanny,
and Andrew all migrated to
Carroll County,
Illinois.""
