Surnames: Rata, Ratat
Looking for confermation that the surname RATAT later changed to RATA was indeed Huguenot.

Acording to one of my relatives (Charles RATA b. 1865) it started back in 1640 with Denis RATAT in Normandy, France. The family supposedly fled France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. This would indicate that Denis became a Huguenot in 1640 and the family fled France due to persecution abt 1685.
