CHAMARETTE: Try East India Company Records

Surnames: Chamarette
If the family went to India pre-1833 they would have needed passage approved by the East India Company, unless they went as independent traders.
If you have not done so, you need to look in the records at the Oriental and India Office Collection at the British Library, London. If you have a year in which they went to India, please post and I'll see whether I have a records of the ships that sailed in that season, which will reduce any search.
If the person worked for the Company there are likely to be appointment records at the OIOC, in the military, even more records, if maritime or marine, contact me direct, I have a data base of mariners.
