Family lore states the Crequis and Markoes left France after 1685 and settled in the West Indies. Have located Markoes 1699 Dutch St. Eustatius and Crequis 1716 British Spanish Town (AKA Virgin Gorda). This tale is related in Baird's Huguenot history but no documentation.

Markoes supposedly from Montbeliard (Doubs) France. Crequis I don't know. Markoes were possibly AKA de la Marck. Crequis seem to have consistent spelling. There was one Markoe/Crequi marriage ca 1750 Danish St. Croix but no other documented ties.
