Morning Richard
You should first take a look at-
www.familysearch.orgsimply entering the Last Name-
foree
and selecting-
Exact
SpellingA number of Forees come up for Cork; but Charitee is not amongst them.
Judging by the responses for Continental
Europe, the name has South
Dutch connections, which may link it back through Belgium to France and the
Huguenots.
Regarding the
Silversmith aspect, if the name "
Foree" was directly engraved, this suggests "family silver" rather than "silversmiths"; but I may be wrong.
Go to-
www.google.comSearch for-
+"foree" +silversmith
None appear to be recorded in Web sources as silversmiths; but there is a response of interest, the
Pigot Directory for
Cork 1825, contains a
Foree - plumber.
So at least there is a metalworking connection; and silver ore is often found with lead ore.
You may have to pursue locally-held records in
Cork, to obtain more information.
