Obituary taken from Kamsack Times dated June 11, 2009
Tina Lapshinoff of Lloydminster, AB and formerly of Canora, passed away suddenly at her home at Pioneer Lodge in Lloydminster on June 2, 2009 at the age of 90 years.
Tina was born on a farm 9 miles northeast of Canora, Sask to Peter and and Tanya Negraeff. She attended school at Phoenix farm school and enjoyed a childhood surrounded by 8 loving brothers and sisters. She met and married William (Bill) Lapshinoff on November 19, 1949 and they both worked for a time in Toronto and also Vancouver before settling to farm in the Pretty View School District 12 miles north of Verigin, Sask. They had two sons, Bill and Lorne, and raised them on the farm enjoying great neighbours, friends and relatives, where she gathered many of her fondest memories. They moved to Canora in 1973 at which time Tina went to work for several years as a cook at the Skylark Hotel in Canora before retiring. Her husband Bill passed away in 1993 and her dear family and friends in Canora stepped in to ease her sorrow and loneliness. Tina never did retire from her passion from gardening which came second only to her love of family, extended family, neighbours and friends. Her great joys were people, plants and cooking.
Tin was predeceased by her husband Bill, her sisters Polly Zurloff, Mary Konkin, Anne Zarin, Nellie Danchuk,Lillian Nisbet; her brother John Negraeff as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Left to cherish her love and memory are her sons families of Bill & Elaine and Lorene & Pat; her grandchildren Brad, Amber (Kevin) & Kris; Great-grandchildren Ocean, Savannah, Roman & Memphis; her brothers Henry (Doris) Negraeff and Peter (Sylvia) Negraeff; brother-in-law Cecil (Maxine) Lapshinoff; sister-in-law Helen Eagan; along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
The visitation was held on Friday, June 5th and the Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 6th, both from the Chapel of Lesons Funeral Home, Canora, with the Canora Doukhobor Society Officiating. Interment followed at the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Canora Doukhobor Society as tokens of Remembrance.
