Obituary taken from Kamsack Times dated June 11, 2009
ZARCHIKOFF: Anne was born on the farm south of Kamsack on Sec.02-29-32 W1 to Sam and Mary
Popoff on July 18,1923. The family then moved to Wadena where Anne attended Silverview School. From there they moved to Whitebeech where she attended Whitebeech School.
In 1945 Anne married Peter Zarchikoff and settled on the farm south of
Pelly until 1951 when they decided to move to
Pelly. Anne worked as a waitress at Filipowichs Cafe,
Pelly Hotel and as a cleaning attendant at the
Coopp store. Anne was an avid housewife, mother and grandmother. She immensely enjoyed her gardening, baking and cooking. A better seamstress was hard to find, as she continued to sew well into her granddaughters' days. She was always there to lend a helping hand whenever the need arose. Her family was of the utmost importance to her. In 1981, due to circumstances, she took on the role of raising a second family. She did an excellent job of helping to raise her grandchildren, Ken, Jeff, Andrea and Sherry.
Anne was a faithful member of the Doukhobor Society in both
Pelly and Kamsack. She served on the ladies auxilliary and the choir for many years. Due to illness Mom's life changed drastically in the Spring of 2005 when she made the move to the Kamsack Nursing Home. Through that time she had many lapses but faced each one with courage and strength, and her strong beliefs. On June 4, 2009 Mom passed away peacefully at the Kamsack Nursing Home.
