Finding Relatives

Surnames: Popoff, Hadiken, Laktin, Stoochnoff, Remezoff, Kastrikoff
I am looking for family history and relatives on my grandmother's side of the family. She died before I was born but I am very interested to find out more about her and her family. They settled in the Kamsack, Benito areas and might still be there. This is what I've found out so far: Great Grandmother was Mary Popoff and she married Steve Hadiken. They had three girls who married and one boy who died young and never married. My grandmother Mary Hadiken (or Khadiken) married Sam (Stoochnoff) Laktin. Her sister Ann married Sam Kastrikoff and her sister Helen married Alex Remezoff. I know the Laktin's have all moved to BC and I think Helen did too, but I don't know who might still be on the prairies.

Hi Janice. I was originally a Remizoff and was wondering if you might be able to help me. I have made up the Remizoff family tree dating back to 1785, now I have a Alex Remezoff 1913 - 1964 who married a Helen but I have her as Helen Chernoff 1918 - . Is this the same Helen that you are talking about or is someone missing from the Remezoff family.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank, Kathy.

Hi Rob
My Wife's grandparents George and Anna Ogloff were from Benito as well. Also there was a Wasily Ogloff that lived in Benito a mile or two from George. I don't know who Wasily was (maybe George's brother). I am curious to know anything about the family.

Please note: When I married (I am now a Khadiken) the relatives from Benito were invited. They called themselves Hadiken's. These may be decendants of Steve Hadiken. They owned a cement plant. One or two were teachers I think. The family I married into were from Kamsack. Laura & (?) Geda Khadiken. They had two children. Peter & Annie. Annie married a Kowalyshen (Kowalyshyn) and had two daughters. Cheryl & Shirley. Shirley had two daughters and Cheryl is a foster mother. Peter married Alice Goba. They had 3 children - Denise, Michele & Murray. There are also Lacten (Walter 306-542-2117), Lacktin (Martha 306-542-2916) & Lackton (Joe & Gladys 306-542-2004) still residing in Kamsack. Also there is Krasnikoff's close to the name of (Kastrikoff) and still residing in Kamsack - Remezoff's. I hope this is helpful.

Hi Janice. My name is Eileen Hadiken (Benito) and I am the youngest daughter of that small boy who died and never married... but really he was my Dad (Bill) and passed away in 1977 when he was 64. Are you Janice Bentin (sorry if spelt wrong) by any chance? Your mom was my first cousin Mary Locktin (Laktin) if you are Janice Bentin. Some of Auntie Anne's kids still are alive and my cousin Hazel lives in Swan River, MB. My cousin Bill lives in Brandon, MB. And my cousin Mary lives in Vancouver, BC. Cousin Alice, Steve, and Sam have passed away (these six were Kastrukoff). I see Hazel and Bill once in awhile. A couple of years ago I went to Victoria, BC to see my cousin Anne Sage who should be your Aunt. Enough for now, sorry for the long wait and hope you reply. Hope this helps.

Hi Crystal. I am Eileen Hadiken, I remember you being a little girl back in the day. Your mom must be Mary Moe and your mom is my first cousin. Your grandma Helen was my aunt who I visited and talked to a lot as well. Aunt Helen was such a loving lady. She had a daughter named Violet and I have completely lost track of her. The last I heard that she may have been in Prince George, do you know anything about her? Thanks

Hi, sorry for the late reply, but here goes, the Helen Hadiken, you are speaking of, that married Alex Remazoff, was my aunt Helen. She was my dad's sister. I could tell you of many fond memories of her. Talk soon, Eileen Hadiken
