St. Mary's Home/Orphanage-New Bedford, Mass 1955-1956
I am trying to remember the name of the priest who was in charge of St. Marys Childrens Home/Orphanage in New Bedford Mass in 1955-1956. We were there due to my fathers illness and stayed for about one year.
If anyone knows this priests name, is he still alive? thank you!

Without a doubt it was Father Thompson. I also remember Sister Agnes and my protector, Josephine.

I was there in the 1960's. It was Sister Dativa (not sure of the spelling). She was up in years when I was there and mostly worked in the kitchen. I am curious about others who were there. Joyce

Re: St. Mary's Home/Orphanage-New Bedford, Mass 1955-1956
I found a 1930 census for the orphanage. Searching for a Luciano Brito b 1922 MA who died in San Diego (1983). He wasn't there, but there was a Julia Brito in MA so I looked at it and it was for St Mary's Home. That made me curious so I googled St Mary's Home and found this thread. In case anyone is interested there are 3 pages of "Inmates" with only a few adults.

Does anyone recall a Sr. Miriam or Mother Killian? If you have any stories to share, please email me! I have many questions about the early years. Thanks
