I believe Henry Ephriam Tydeman [Baptist Minister], who emigrated to New South Wales in the mid to late1800's is my great grandfather. I will see what my mother recalls as she has a good memory for those things.

Hi Tuula,
Sounds like we are related.
My mum is Beryl Tydeman [nee Hatson] who married my dad Ron Tydeman in 1946 in Sydney, Australia. My father's father was Harold Tydeman [also a Baptist Minister and ex British Army Chaplain with service in India] . My father Ron had four brothers and two sisters. My grandfather Harold Tydeman was one of Henry Emprhiam Tydeman's sons. My mother said she thought there were 10 children of Henry. She recalls Arthur, Albert and Francis but none of the others. She heard some went to New Zealand and to other places in the then British empire. Henry is buried at Tumbarumba, New South Wales, A small country town on the western side of the Snowy Mountains where apparently he had his last parish.
Do you know all of the names of the children of Henry?
Regards,
Brian Tydeman

Re: Baptist minister from Suffolk(?) Henry Ephriam Tydeman
Hi Brian !
At genealogy.com there is a william T who seems to have a lot of our ancestory down pat. I am Nerida Hygh's sister, our dad is David Charles (sister Diana Holford, in Oz), their father was Gerald who was one of Charles' sons. We all live in BC Canada (4 kids, 3 girls & 1 boy). Colin Gooch, also at that website has some more info. My dad has just sent some birth & death certs which another cousin in Oz has tracked down. Will let you in on any new I come across. I believe that my dad's mum, Lorna Gilchrist died in '46 & Gerald died shortly after in '48(?) I think its neat that there are so many of us, when I was growing up, there were no other Tydeman's that we knew of.

Re: Baptist minister from Suffolk(?) Henry Ephriam Tydeman
Hi Tuula,
Thanks for the data on genealogy.com . I found that site very informative and I too am amazed at the history records available from William T. I have not seen much of the other Tydeman's in Sydney for many years but I will try and make local contact with some of my cousins and catch up on the family whereabouts.
My mother said she recalled hearing from my Grandfather Harold Tydeman that Henry Ephriam Tydeman's wife Emma Chadwick's family were boat builders from Cardiff but otherwise no other knowledge of that side of the family is known.
Regards,
Brian Tydeman

Re: Baptist minister from Suffolk(?) Henry Ephriam Tydeman
Hi Brian ! This is getting exciting, we know very little of the women who married into the family, so the info on Emma is helpful. Apparently, Emma was killed in a train accident in Oz.? That is what my dad thinks. Anyway, any more info is most welcome. Tuula

Re: Baptist minister from Suffolk(?) Henry Ephriam Tydeman
I am the daughter of Hector (Tim) Tydeman, twin of Ronald (Bully) and I know that Henry Ephraim Tydeman and his wife Emma are buried in Rookwood Cemetery in NSW as I have their death certificates. Emma was hit by a train on 10th February 1892 which was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald on the 11th.
Brian, you used to come to our house and played with my brother, Gordon with your brother back in the 50s. I have a couple of photos of you. Your dad was my dad's bestman and I also have photos of that occasion.
If you would like to contact me, I would be happy to respond.
Sincerely, Barbara Hotham (nee Tydeman)

Re: Baptist minister from Suffolk(?) Henry Ephriam Tydeman
I am the daughter of Dorothy Marjorie Tydeman. Her father was George Ebenezer Tydeman aka Ebenezer Tydeman who I believe was the nephew of Henry Ephraim Tydeman. I have just posted on my ancestry.com (Price/Smith) tree two newspaper articles relating to the death of Emma Tydeman. I trust this may add to your collection of family tree information. I live in Australia.
Regards, Jan Smith (nee Price)
