I'm having a tough time finding the parents of a person named Orin Dey Rogers or Oran Day Rogers (misspelled as Rogus, Roggers, Rodgers). On the 1861 Canadian census in Ontario, it says he was Babtist (sic), about age 22, living with his wife and child. He was born in Ontario, Canada. His father was from the US, don't know where; mother from England. I haven't got a clue how to search for his parentage. The Baptist Church in Canada states that the parents weren't listed on baptismal records and that the person had to be an adult to be baptized. What age is "adult"? I don't know if his father was a Baptist from the northern US or if he was a from the Southern US. Does that make a difference? I don't know how to check for membership in Baptist church in Leeds County, Ontario--or if they utilized traveling preachers from the US, which is what I suspect. Where do I go from here? I've written to the Canadian Baptist archives asking for help but haven't heard back. If traveling preachers from the US were utilized, how and where do I access those records? Any help is appreciated.
