Where can I find out what type of Baptist my ancestor was?
He was born in 1828(NY) was a pastor there.

Moved to several states and listed Baptist clergyman as occupation.

Have a certificate(no date) from Ohio Baptist Convention for life member of the Baptist Convention of the State of Ohio. (Paid $30.00). Would this be a part of the Southern Baptists? Or another group of Baptists?
We think the timeframe of the certificate was after 1860 and before 1875.

I am willing to do research, just do not know where to start. Thank you.
