Could you post the name of the individual concerned, so we can check it out? Transcription errors are very, very common.

I have had a look and the age in 1881 looks like 50 to me and Ancestry have, indeed, indexed it as such. This is consistent with the other censuses and a birth year of around 1831. I am not sure where baptism comes in?
