Baptised twice?

Baptised twice?

Is it possible for a child to have 2 baptism certificates or to have been baptised twice. I have found 2 certificates while searching for an individual and the childs name is the same on both as is the mother and fathers names and fathers occupation.
"Pheebe" Caroline Woolf is listed on the first baptism as being born 18th March 1820 with the baptism taking place on 6th December 1823 at St Matthew, Bethnal Green. The entry gives Cambridge Circus as the address and parents are Samuel, a dyer, and Mary. There is also a note which reads "By certificate transmitted from the Rev Wm (looks like Hawkey?) Episcopal Jews chapel april 22 182(unable to read last no of year).
The second baptism gives the date of birth as 6th march 1820 and took place on the 20th march 1825 at St John at Hackney. The address is listed as Homerton, Hackney. The name spelled Phoebe this time but parents and occupation are again the same.
I was wondering if it was possible or likely for a child to be baptised twice, maybe to claim relief from the parish under poor laws or whether there could be another reason?
can anyone help?

I'm disappointed you didn't get any replies to this query as I have just found two baptism notices for my great great grandmother, Ann Hone, daughter of Stephen (a carpenter) and Mary Hone (nee Blishen). Ann was born in Camberwell in December 1829 and baptised by the curate H W C Hyde on 31st December 1829 and again by the same curate in the same place on 4th April 1830. Any explanation anyone?
