Dear Adele,
My name is Laura Whitney. My grandfather, Domenico Pagliaroli, was born in Isola di Liris (not sure of spelling?) in 1887. I remember my grandfather talking about a priest, Father Quattrociocchi, with great respect. Grampy said it was Father Quattrociocchi who made his immigration to the United States possible. I don't know the details, but probably he helped with money and filling out papers, since my grandfather could not read or write very well. I think my grandfather's mother's name was Angeline, and he had between 10 and 15 brothers and sisters. He was the oldest. Grampy remembers having a donkey when he was 9 years old, and loading bits of wood on the donkey to take down the hills to the paper mill on the Isola. Grampy also had a favorite little sister, Virginia, who later became a nun by the name of Suora Natalina. She worked as a nurse in the Military Hospital of Roma. 65 years after he said goodbye to her, I went to Italy at the age of 15 years and found her, and many other relatives. She was so sweet.
If you know of any history of the Pagliaroli family on Isola di Liris, perhaps you could let me know. Good luck on your family search.
Best Regards,
Laura Whitney

Is the Pietro Quattrociocchi linked to the Niccolo Quattrociocchi of the El Borracho restaurant? I understand his and his father's name was Pietro.
I was named after Niccolo Q., my father's cousin.
Nick Q.

Hello Jeremy: My mother was Julia the daughter of Michael. Any information you have would be very helpfull. I have been quite ill so I am quite late in my reply to you. I was born and raised in Niagara Falls, and have been living in Tumbler Ridge, BC for the last seven years, which is in the north east of BC. In September I will be moving back to Niagara Falls. Would I be correct in saying your mothers name would be Lorraine and her brothers were David & Donald.

Do you know the names of Milton's and Albert's fathers or grandfathers? I am looking for info on Bahneman/Bahnemanns from St. Paul. The father was George Gottfried Bahneman, b. abt 1850, and Christine Sophia Siebert, b. abt 1853 or 1855. Some of their children were Carl/ Charles, (Cora) Louise, George Albert, Laura Minnie, Violet, Jeannette or Jennie, John, Elsie.

While researching I did find a nice site that lists some info about Loraine. http://www.findagrave.com I don't know yet if these are the Bahnemans I am looking for, but the name Albert was a fixture there.

Nonno and Nonna did something right, lol.

Speaking of the marvels of cyberworld, I was searching a few years ago for info on Dad's family when out of the blue I get a message from Nello Quattrociocchi with two sentences : Hi Michelle. I'm your Dad's first cousin...from Italy.

I almost fell out of my chair. He's also a great source of info. Give me a week and I'll get his email address from Rosanna, okay?

Did you see my sister's modelling shoot in Chatelaine last year? I'm not sure which photo you were referring to. I heard something about Nonna's sister still being alive, but I never kept in touch with any of them. But I did attempt to visit Nonna once at the nursing home, but I guess they had taken her outside--believe it or not, they could not locate her! I waited, but our lines got crossed somewhere.....

Anyway, talk to you soon--and say hello to Brigitt and David (if David remembers me!)

I guess everyone has their own lives now, but I still wonder how everyone is doing--the last time I saw (almost) all of us gathered together was my wedding--and that was a LOOOONG time ago!

Yeah, Zia Ida is always a good source of information for such things. She keeps up-to-date and entertained about family history, but I know as much as you do right now. And, yup, my sister is still so cute! Must be those good genes--Ida is still an attractive, young looking woman, not to mention most of the "clan" is of "good-looking stock"! ;-)

By the way, I saw Brigitt's photo for the shoe ad. She still looks amazing! See, I told you we're of good stock! Through the ad, I tried to find a link with the store so I could communicate in some way with your sister, but it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Anyway, dear cousin, thank you for keeping in touch and hope to hear from you again! I do apologize that I can't help you further regarding Nonna's side of the family, but I'll keep my ear to the ground. If I hear any additional info, I'll keep you posted.

Surprised to learn that Cyphers was such a common name in the Washington, NJ area. Never bothered to trace my own lineage beyond my grandfather, Arthur D. Cyphers, Sr. My Dad was Arthur D. Cyphers, Jr. He was born (1924) and raised in the Riegelsville, PA area and moved to Hughesville, NJ (Hunterdon County) when he was a boy.
I actually found this website while doing a search on my own son's name (Mark Cyphers). Found that one of your early family members name was Mark, as well.
Interestingly, my mother, whose last name was Brush, lived most of her life in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1942.

Her name was Thyra Widing and she was buried in the Lakeside Cementary.
Furthermore, the name Carl has been found in almost all Widing-relatives to me so I believe that it don't have to be a coincidence...
Hello friends! My name is Adele Quattrociocchi and I write from Italy, in particular from Alatri, one city close Veroli in province of Frosinone. They are little distant from Rome, only 90 kilometres.
I have uncovered that all the persons who have the last name "Quattrociocchi" have origin from Veroli and most of all from one zone of Veroli called Saint Francesca. Also I am trying a my relative. He was born in America, but I don't know where. His father came in America from Veroli where he had a brother that was priest in Veroli. He enlisted itself in american aviation and became pilot. During the second world war while he was in a flight in mission, he saved from a strafing my country Alatri. I would want to find him or its relatives. Someone has news in purpose?...you excuse me for my American...

Widing family history & information

Hello! My maiden name is Widing. I have been desperately trying to piece together information regarding my grandparents's immigration to the USA, from where? when? relatives around the globe? My paternal grandfather was John Patrick Widing, commonly called "Austin" for unknown reasons, and died on November 20, 1976. He was an intelligent, honest, loving man, father of 6, grandfather of 15, and a huge part of my everyday world. His only living sister is almost 100 years old, living in a nursing home in New Jersey, not always aware of the time/date/current people around her. They had another sister (my namesake) who died prematurely at the age of 28, thanks to some disease. My father's sister is also named Dorothy. I am the first grandchild to Austin & Olga, born in NYC. Over the years, I have heard many colorful stories of my grandfather's life, his hard work & determination to achieve the American Dream for his family. He past on his business to his sons, then later to their sons. It has been mentioned that my great-grandfather's name may have been Michael, and that the family name may actually have been "Viding", misspelled upon entering the USA (late 1800s - early 1900s?) either by accident or intent. My great-grandmother's name was Molly Lally-Widing, born in Ireland. If anyone can shed some light on my family tree, I would be truly happy to hear about it. Thanks!

Hope I am doing this right.

The Father of Andrew John Widing was John Widing from Sweden. We are not sure if this was his name for sure or not because when they came to America there possibly was a name change. His name could have been John ? Johanson from Sweden.

I have no relation to this family, but an August & Carrie Quattrociocchi lived near me in about 1951 in Montoursville, Lycoming Co., PA. They had a son, who was called Juney (junior?) and a daughter whose name I do not recall. Both August & Carrie are buried in the Montoursville Cemetery with their 12 year old daughter, Lena, who died in 1948. Lena's picture is on the headstone. If you are related and would like a photo of this headstone, feel free to contact me. QUEENIEVEE@aol.com

I remember grabbing Anna any time I could - she was so cute and I used to think of her as my live doll whenever the families would get together.

Thank you for the condolences and Brigette and David are doing very well.

Back to the family history: It's been very difficult tracking down names and dates for Nonna's family. Do you have any other information? Right now, Aunt Ida is my source for information.....

Yes, Anita DePersis married Francesco Quattrociocchi and moved to Toronto in the 50s with their children. Their children are: Yolanda, Santino, Sabastiano, Eda (Ida), Alberto, Aleandro, Julia and Angela.

This is my immediate family. Anita is alive and kicking in a nursing home in Toronto, Francesco died at 91 in 2002. From what I have been told, Anita's father was involved in politics in L'Aguila (sp?). Anita has two sisters that I am aware of and one is still living.

Danna - I was given a package of pictures today that my father's brother had. My dad is 90 and doesn't remember very much about his mother IDA WIDING (she died about 1924) and her family from St. Paul, but says she had a brother Andrew, a sister Mabel and a sister Bessie. He couldn't remember the names of the other brother(s). The pictures include a shot of 4 young women together, taken in St. Paul, MN. Ida married Elmer Highberg from Spokane, WA. Does any of this information fit anything you (or anyone else) have? I'd be happy to share photos, especially if someone can help ID the people in them. I have almost no information about Ida, but would like to hear from anyone who does.

COUSIN TO MARIA AND ANNA

Hi Michelle,

In response to your post, I am pretty certain that you are my first cousin. My grandfather is also Francesco Quattrociocchi, who died in 2002, just after his 91st birthday of April 17, (you're right--his birth year was 1911). Your sister is Brigitt and your brother is David (is he a great Toronto Baseball star?). I have a sister, Anna, and my father is Francesco's third son. Nonna Anita's (DePersis) mother died when she was a child and her father remarried in Frosinone, Torrice; Italy. The whole "clan" is from Torrice, Frosinone. It would be nice to hear from you and your sister. It's been since 1988 that I've seen you. Also, condolences regarding your mother's death. I hope you, Brigitt, and David are doing OK.

Danna, where was the birthplace of the father of Andrew John Widing and what was his name? I'm wondering if there is any connection to my family.

My family settled in St. Paul at the turn of the century. If you want to write to me I can fill you in on my family's history. The Widing name is Swedish, from the city of Orebro. It is a Military name. Our Family's original surnames were Larsson and Johansson.
