Surprised to learn that Cyphers was such a common name in the Washington, NJ area. Never bothered to trace my own lineage beyond my grandfather, Arthur D. Cyphers, Sr. My Dad was Arthur D. Cyphers, Jr. He was born (1924) and raised in the Riegelsville, PA area and moved to Hughesville, NJ (Hunterdon County) when he was a boy.
I actually found this website while doing a search on my own son's name (Mark Cyphers). Found that one of your early family members name was Mark, as well.
Interestingly, my mother, whose last name was Brush, lived most of her life in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1942.
