Okay, no idea where to post this, but this looks like the best place.

My great-grandparents, the Hermans, came from a place in Russia called Shaefer. They're called "Germans from Russia," and I can't find ANYTHING on Shaefer. I want to know more about Shaefer to understand why my great-grandparents might have left (and why it exists in the first place!)
