connecticut orphanages in civil war time period

I was always told that my great grandparents Moffet and Norton met each other at an orphanage were they were placed while their parents were involved with the war. Does anyone know what town that orphanage may have been in? They appear in latter census records in central village and windham county areas.

Hi,

The people you are looking for were in the Connecticut Soldiers' Orphans Home in Mansfield. The Mansfield Historical Society is opening an exhibit on the home in June. Museum Director Ann Galonska has information that you are seeking. You can contact her directly at: mansfield.historical@snet.net

Good luck
