HI,

My dad attended St Joseph orphanage in Green bay as an infant around 1940. He had two older sisters that were here as well, not sure why they all ended up living there..
My father was adopted to Gertrude and alvin vanveghel. Our last name is vanveghel, but I have heard my dad's mother name was "press". Do you remember a little boy at the orphanage with two older sisters? I guess 1 was 5 years old and the other was 10...
I would love to find out if I have cousins, aunts and uncles out there. :)

HI

My Dad went to the orphanage, he was born april 7th 1940. I guess he had two older sisters when he was born. They thought they were about 5 and 10 years old in 1940.. Did you mom or aunt say they had a younger brother?

My husband lived at St. Joseph's from possibly Aug 1936 when he was born until 1942. His name while living there was James Pelkey. A priest took a special interest in him. He helped him get a foster family when he was 6 1/2 who later adopted him. He has very few memories of St. Joesph's which makes us wonder how long he actually lived there. He did recall a Christmas there when he received an orange and a little glider airplane for a gift. Also, he remembers playing in the snow on a large hill near the orphanage. Those were his better memories of his time there. He knows that he was very happy to have been found by people who wanted him and gave him a real home.
