My husband lived at St. Joseph's from possibly Aug 1936 when he was born until 1942. His name while living there was James
Pelkey. A priest took a special interest in him. He helped him get a foster family when he was 6 1/2 who later adopted him. He has very few memories of St. Joesph's which makes us wonder how long he actually lived there. He did recall a Christmas there when he received an orange and a little glider airplane for a gift. Also, he remembers playing in the snow on a large hill near the orphanage. Those were his better memories of his time there. He knows that he was very happy to have been found by people who wanted him and gave him a real home.
