Looking into my family lineage, I've always wondered about my grandmother's father. The family story is that he was left on the family doorstep. They named him Robert Devotion Cannon. He later married Myrle Phelps, and they had 2 daughters. One was my grandmother. They believe he has native american heritage. Does anyone know if I'll be able to find any information? And if so, where do I start?

I expect if he was truly just left on a doorstep that I won't find any documentation on him, but it's worth asking around.
