Hi,

The orphanage was real and it was located in Brighton, Tennessee, in Tipton County. The children attended the local schools in the area. What was your mother's name? I was born and raised in Memphis and went with a friend to visit one of the children that was living there on a few occasions. The orphanage ran its own working farm and the children were assigned duties to upkeep the farm. It had residential cottages and a central cafeteria / meeting building connected to the girl's dormatory in the front of the facility. William Heathcox was the superintendant. Different people were hired as matrons over the cottages. One of the matrons was Bill Fee and his wife. There was rumors that people disappeared from there. Some of the children were brutal to the other children and even tried to kill some of them. It was not a great place to be.

I will give you as much information as I can remember.
