I was there in '50 -'51 at the age of 2 and 3, along with my sisters, who were 4 1/2 and 6. We then went on to St. Joseph's Orphanage in Fall River, Mass., until I was finally rescued by my grandparents at the age of 5. My mother was divorced and could not care for us while she taught school, even with the help of her parents and sister. I am sure the experience was traumatic for all of us and we grew to be different than the rest of society.
The New York Times today had a front page story about a French Orphanage in Ireland that prompted me to research my past. It seems that such an orphaned life was internationally similar.
