I'm researching my family with surname Starkovich/Starcevic. My father and possibly his brothers were in the St. Anthony's Home for Boys approximately 1914 when their mother in Gallup died. The orphanage in Albuquerque has been torn down and I'm having a hard time finding any records. I believe they were there 2 years until my grandfather remarried and took them back. My dad went to some reunions in his later years but I can't find anyone else to talk to. I have a photo and the home was run by Catholic church.

She said she was born in Mexico, could have been New Mexico about 1883. Her name was Inez Torillo, but on the cesus record it shows as E Inez, I am thinking because of the it sounded. She married around 15 to a rancher named Abram or Abraham Banta, they had two children and then she died. The children were sent back east to be raised by the Banta family. Her daughter, my grandmother was name Inez Banta, later Ganey.

The best way to search honestly is to utilize all the features with Ancestry.com. I used what I knew from the individual that was alive and with whom I had contact with. Entered DOB, place of birth ect. then searched. The ost useful info came from news paper articles. NAmes were not usually kept a secret. Also if the place of birth is known check with that county records dept. Good luck

I am hoping that someone can give me further information on my grandparents. My grandmothers name was Ophelia Balencia and was born January 1913 in New Mexico. According to family she and her sister were raised in an orphanage because the rest of the family had died from an illness. The orphanage she and her sister was around T & C new Mexico an had burned down. I believe that my grandmother may have been part of the Apache (Chiricahua) Nation. She married my mothers father Enrique Martinez 1897. I am pretty desperate to find info on my family and any help will be greatly appreciated
