I would love to find out more information. I'm waiting for my aunt to send me her birth certificate and baptismal papers.

She was adopted shortly after birth by Frieda (Werner} Duensing and Louis Duensing from the Freemont orphanage. Iknow nothing of her birth parents. It is rumored she may have been the off-spring of a gypsy and a locals daughter. Her adopted mother and father lived in Arapahoe, Nebraska until 1925 when they moved to Norton Kansas. Erna married Werner August Wegener 06-08-1930, and in 1040 moved to Gresham Orega, She passed 06-17-1970.

I looked over the 1920 census records. Johann (John) Fred Gnuse was the head of the Lutheran Orphanage and Children's Home Finding Society in Fremont. In the 1920 records, there's a single page dedicated to the orphanage. It shows J.F. and Frieda had 4 children, a nurse, a servant, and 24 "wards". Their children were Walderman, 17, Esther, 14, Edmund, 11, and Helen, 7.

This helped me make a link, as J.F. is my great grand uncle.

Jason

In the early 1960's, from what I can determine from biological family, four children were taken by Nebraksa Child Protective Services from Carol Jean (Knocke) Fuller and an Edward L. Fuller. The mother is my biological mother. I was adopted put in the late 1950's and only have a vague memory of the oldest step-sibling.

I understand that they were taken as a family unit and placed in an Omaha area orphanage. The names that I have been given of the siblings are:

Timothy Mark Fuller
Stephen Paul Fuller
Bryan Lee Fuller
Shelley Christina Fuller

Any help in trying to locate the orphanage or these siblings would b greatly appreciated. I have two of the birth dates for the first two boys but not the last two.

info on grandmother needed

I am looking for info on my paternal grandmother, Frances Rose Shanahan Parker who was adopted in NE at the age around 5 or 6. She was born in Belgium around 1916 and came to the US as an orphan. Apparently, she was adopted twice. The first from a family whose mother became ill and had to "return" her to the orphanage. WIlliam and Rose Shanahan then adopted her. They lived in Omaha, NE and Nebraska City, NE. Apparently, one of the orphanages burned down and her birth certificate was lost. I have heard she was in an orphanage out East and then came to the Midwest on an orphan train. If you have any info it would mean a great deal to me. Thank you!

My mom says she probably has my dad's birth certificate, and definitely has his death certificate, but doesn't know where they are. Same for family photos. I'll be out there in May, and if I'm able, I'll look for some family photos. I've had some luck finding info on the Moackler family, and when I'm in Nebr. and have the time, I want to stop at the courthouse in Dodge County, BC it seems my dad's grandfather was born there. I've also found the area in Ireland where they are from. Sorry I don't have any more info to share with you.

My grandmother was in the Fremont Orphanage(Lutheran Children's Home) and I was able to go to the Lutheran Family Services in Omaha, NE. They now hold the records for the then Lutheran Children's Home. The one kicker is that the orphan needs to be a least one hundred years old before they will release the records.

Hi,
We have always been told that most of the records were burned when the orphanage did. We have never been able to find anything about my husbands mother. You can also check with the state. I think there was a post about this if you want to check. Will look myself and let you know when i get some fee time.
Pat

Hi my name is Cassie Blackmore. I have two younger sisters who I just recently found out are only my half sisters. I am turning 20 this year and think I am ready to meet my birth parents. I was born in Omaha Nebraska and went threw foster care until I was adopted when I was 5. I have no idea aything about my parents other than my dad's names is Collin and my moms name is Kristy. My adoptive parents changed my name as well as my sisters so I don't really know what our real names are. If you could help me in anyway I'd greatly appriciate it.

My father was born, being first named Johnny Urich, on March 24, 1946. We have been told that he was born in the Milford, NE orphanage and later adopted out of Lutheran Family Services in Omaha, NE. Also told that his parent were very young, with his father leaving for the military. It is my understanding that he was a couple of months old at adoption. We would greatly appreciate any help in locating his natural parents.
Thank you!

I was removed from the orphanage in 1958, my brother Richard
was left at St. James, I was about 12 close to 13. Richard was a few yrs. younger. I have been looking for a very long time and would like for anyone who may know of him to contact me. I'm hoping him remembers that he had a sister. If he wants no contact, I just want to know he is okay. I will be
66 at the end of March, so Richard would be in his 50's or
early 60's. I know is was adopted, but that all I know. I miss him even after all these yrs, Thanks to anyone who can help. Our last name at the time was Grover.

Actually, a lot has happened since I posted that query. I did contact Catholic Charities, and to make a long story short, I was able to get the name of my mother's birth mother. Fortunately, it was a distinctive name, and it wasn't difficult to locate other family members. They were shocked but welcoming, and I now have a set of cousins whom I've enjoyed getting to know!

John Richard was my dad's brother! My sister and I called him "Uncle Rich," because Margaret Steepy's first husband was named John Dahmke, and we called him "Uncle John." My sister and I grew up very close to John Richard, Margaret Steepy (who had two other husbands after John Dahmke), and Ruth Steepy and her husband, Fred Gustason. Neither Margaret (who was called Marge) nor Ruth had children of their own, so my family meant a lot to them. My dad was Robert James, who was four years older than John Richard, I believe. Did you, or do you, live in Omaha? I grew up in Omaha. I did visit Joseph and his wife in Calif. once growing up, and kept in touch with his wife, Carolyn, after he died. My mom, Alma, remembers the younger Henrietta and her family. She thinks they lived in Lincoln, when she knew them. I have just started research on the Moackler name, etc. My Uncle Rich had some family history, he told me before he died, but he didn't have a chance to pass it on to me. I don't know if either of his sons has the information or not.
